The answers to frequently-asked questions (FAQs) regarding LINKS payment procedures and related issues follow. If the answer to your LINKS payment question can't be found below in these FAQs, please e-mail Billing@LINKS-simulations.com with your question. If you've paid for LINKS and our payment records show that you've paid (via the 'Display E-Mail Addresses and Payments' button within the LINKS Simulation Database), then these FAQs aren't normally relevant to you ... and you don't have to read the rest of this webpage.
Browser Access Difficulties: I'm trying to pay for LINKS but the credit card payment options aren't showing on the screen. What am I doing wrong? If credit card options aren't showing on the web-screen, try deleting cookies from your browser. Or, please try a different browser.
Direct Invoicing: Can you send me an electronic invoice to pay for LINKS? Yes, we can send you an electronic invoice ... but please try to pay for LINKS via PayPal in the normal fashion before resorting to a direct-invoice request.
Discounts For Early Payment: Are discounts available for early payment? The published LINKS price is the discounted price for early payment (i.e., for payment received no later than the first scheduled game run in a LINKS). After the first scheduled game run in a LINKS event, the price for LINKS reverts to it non-discounted level, which is 25% above the (published) discounted price.
No Credit Card: I don't have a credit card. How can I pay for LINKS? Anyone unable to pay via personal credit card on the web via PayPal may pay by personal check or money order. (Banks issue money orders even if you don't have an active bank account there.) Such a personal check or money order (in USD$) is made payable to 'Randall G. Chapman' and sent to Randall G. Chapman, 320 Forest Haven Drive, Winter Garden, FL 34787. Regular (first-class/air mail) is fine; there's no need to use express/overnight mail. Please be sure to identify your LINKS event's university/college, course, your LINKS instructor, and the e-mail address that you provided to your LINKS instructor for your LINKS event. Please note that checks with insufficient funds incur an additional processing fee of USD$25 before registration/payment for a LINKS event will be deemed to be complete.
Non-Payment: What happens if I don't pay for LINKS? Payment for LINKS is required for all students participating in a LINKS event. Payment is per-student, not per-team. Everyone who participates in a LINKS event must pay the LINKS usage fee. After an e-mail warning (sometime after the first scheduled LINKS game run), a warning message will be displayed within the LINKS Simulation Database. Continuing non-payment ultimately leads to suspension of access to the LINKS Simulation Database for all team members of a LINKS firm with one or more non-paying team members. Your LINKS instructor is routinely advised of e-mail addresses of non-paying students.
Paying By Personal Check or Money Order: Can I pay for LINKS by personal check? Anyone unwilling or unable to pay via personal credit card on the web via PayPal may pay by personal check or money order. Such a personal check or money order (in USD$) is made payable to 'Randall G.
Paying For LINKS: How do I pay for LINKS? Access the 'Pay For LINKS Now' link within the 'Paying For LINKS' drop-down menu on the LINKS Simulations webpage. You access this payment webpage only at the beginning of a LINKS event, to pay via personal credit card for participating in a LINKS event. Note that you can access the resources on the LINKS website prior to paying for your participation in a LINKS exercise. For example, the LINKS participant's manual is accessible on the LINKS website for viewing, downloading, and/or printing. Thus, you aren't constrained from getting started with reading the LINKS participant's manual before you pay for LINKS.
Payment Records in Error: I've paid for LINKS but I'm not recorded being paid in the e-mail address listing displayed when I click on the 'Display E-Mail Addresses and Payments' button. Help! Our payment records are updated daily, typically in the evening. If you've paid very recently, please wait another day and check again via the 'Display E-Mail Addresses and Payments' button. Alternatively, you or someone else paying on your behalf might have used some other e-mail address than is in the official LINKS Simulation Database. Thus, we can't correlate your payment with your official e-mail address as recorded in the LINKS Simulation Database. In this case, access the 'Paid With Different E-Mail Address?' link within the 'Paying For LINKS' drop-down menu on the LINKS Simulations webpage or the LINKS Simulation Database webpage and provide the necessary information to permit your payment records to be updated. If several days have passed since you paid and you used your official e-mail address as recorded in the LINKS Simulation Database to pay for LINKS, then please forward a copy of your PayPal e-mail receipt to Billing@LINKS-simulations.com with a brief note ('I've paid, here's the PaylPal receipt, please update your records to reflect my payment').
Refunds: How do I get a refund for my LINKS PayPal payment? Send an e-mail message to Billing@LINKS-simulations.com with your refund request. You need to provide your university/college name and your LINKS instructor's name in your refund request. Refunds are only made for students who have dropped a course (your 'drop' status will be confirmed with your LINKS instructor before the refund is processed). And, refunds are not made after the second round in the schedule of a LINKS event. Refunds are only made via the original credit card that you used to pay for LINKS.
Two-Student Shared-Usage With a Single Payment: Can two students who live together and are on the same LINKS team make just one payment for the two of them (rather than two separate payments)? No, each LINKS student must pay individually for LINKS usage. Like college/university tuition, each student pays for LINKS regardless of relatives who may be currently attending the same college/university. LINKS pricing (in USD$) includes: the full LINKS simulation experience; the LINKS participant's manual, freely accessible/downloadable via the LINKS website; access to the LINKS website's resources (e.g., FAQs, tutorials, and videos) throughout LINKS events; remote administration of LINKS by LINKS Simulations staff (i.e., with 24x7 web browser access to input decisions and retrieve results, there's no software to download/install); and, on-going pre- and within-event support to instructors and students provided directly by the LINKS author. Each student pays for access/exposure to the LINKS simulation experience, not for a personal 'owned' copy of a LINKS participant's manual ... thus, all LINKS students pay the relevant LINKS usage fee and there are no 'used LINKS books'.
